Head Accountant

We are a growing accounting firm in Nigeria providing Accounting, Bookkeeping, and Tax services to companies in Nigeria and the US. As part of a group of companies, we are seeking a Head Accountant to lead our accounting operations and support financial control across the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting function for the firm and associated companies
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and other accounting reports
- Supervise junior accounting staff, technicians, and interns
- Maintain cost control and strong internal financial processes
- Support bookkeeping, tax compliance, reconciliations, and reporting
- Drive accounting system improvement and technology adoption
- Contribute to profitability and sound financial decision-making
Must Have
- Minimum of B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, tax, cost control, and internal controls
- Must be IT savvy
- Experience with SAP or Odoo Accounting is an advantage, or willingness to learn and support accounting system implementation
- Willingness to learn the use of AI tools for complex financial statements and reporting
- Must have used common LLMs such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar
- Strong analytical, supervisory, and problem-solving skills
- Must be honest, smart, responsible, dedicated, hardworking, and profit-oriented
- Ability to coordinate accounting technicians and interns effectively
- Ability to work across WAT and CST time zones
Nice to have
- Experience in writing online content
- Additional languages
- Google Adwords experience
- Strong analytical skills
